Congratulations to the following students who competed at the IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest on Saturday at Mt. Carmel!
Instrumental Solos receiving Division I ratings were: Austohn Gardner(sax), Vanessa Hoffman(clarinet), Victor Skaggs(tuba), and Lincoln Taylor(oboe).
Receiving II ratings were: LeeAnn Book, Kourtney Robertson, and Ariel Totten.
Vocal Solos receiving a I rating were: Hayden McDuffee, Kelsey Scott, Kelsey Turnipseed, Andrea Strange, Amber Scarbrough, Jakarra Mason, Dustin Boyd, and Kensey Stanley. Receiving II ratings were: Amy Scarbrough, Kelsie Poole, and Krista Asher.
Vocal Duets receiving a I rating were: Hayden McDuffee/Kendra Grimes; and Amy/Amber Scarbrough.
Victor Skaggs was awarded “Musician of the Day” by his judge. This award means that of all the solos the judge listened to that day, Victor’s was the most outstanding solo!
Once again, congratulations to the music students and Mrs. Barbre for a job well done!

Congratulations to Coach Austin and the FCHS varsity scholastic team on capturing first place in the IHSA Regional tournament on Monday night! FCHS went 3 and 0 en route to the crown.
FCHS defeated Carlyle 245 – 59, Cisne 211 – 65, and Edwards County 194 – 169. Answering tossups for FCHS were Kinsey Hilliard with 10, Jeff Vaughan with 9, Emily Scarbrough with 8, John Reynolds with 4, Hayden McDuffee with 3, and Devin Clark with 1. Also participating for FCHS were Brandy Crane, Hannah Etheridge, Larissa Schell, Victor Skaggs, and Lincoln Taylor.
Fairfield now improves to 31 and 13 on the year and now advances to the IHSA Sectional on Saturday. FCHS is hosting the IHSA Sectional and will face Cumberland, Effingham St. Anthony, and Lawrenceville. The action will begin at 10 on Saturday.

Attention Our Town cast members: Practice tonight(Wed.) begins at 6:00 p.m. for students in Acts I & II. Students in Act III should be at practice by 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, practice is for all cast members and will start at 7:00 p.m.

Guidance has received the applications for the Puckett Foundation Scholarship. The scholarship is for $3000.00 per year for four years. See guidance for an application and further guidelines. The deadline to apply is Monday, April 19th.

The Gamma Upsilon Chapter Recruitment Grant application is now available in the guidance office. This is open to a graduating high school senior girl, planning to enter the field of education. This is a $200 scholarship. See guidance for an application. The deadline to apply is April 1st.

Guidance has received the applications for the Nichols Memorial Grant. This is open to a graduating high school senior girl, planning a career in the field of education. This is a $2,000. grant. See Guidance for further information and guidelines. The deadline to apply is April 1st.

Information regarding the Psi U Scholarship Grant Program is available in the guidance office. This is open to any male freshman attending the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign, who exhibits the highest moral, intellectual and social excellence. Interested students should see Guidance. The deadline to apply is Monday, September 20, 2010.
