Stuco "Chain of Hope" Raised $1,800 for Haiti's Earthquake Victims

The FCHS Student Council sponsored a local relief effort to help the people of Haiti. Two weeks ago a Chain of Hope was started for the Haitian people. Each link of the chain represents $1.00 donation to the American Red Cross who will then send the needed supplies and food to the earthquake victims.

FCHS, along with Center Street and Northside grade schools in Fairfield, and New Hope Grade School, and Jasper Grade School have all been collecting money for two weeks in the Chain of Hope effort.

The FCHS students gave generously in two separate bucket brigades . Student Council members went from room to room right after the Pledge of Allegiance two mornings, and the FCHS responded! $568 was collected from the students . That is awesome!

The Chain of Hope was presented to the community on Friday at the FCHS home basketball game. Students from area grade schools carried the chain around the gymnasium so all could see the representation of their donations.

The following were the grand totals for each school:
Jasper Grade School: 344 links
New Hope Grade School: 346 links
Northside and Center Street grade schools: 534 links
Fairfield Community High School: 568 links

The total collected so far by the area students is $1790.48.

The FCHS student council would like to thank everyone who donated to this very worthy effort! They are very proud of the students of this area who worked together in this project. We know our Chain of Hope will make a difference to the people of Haiti!
