1. In honor of their recently read novel, The Kite Runner, Paula Beehn's sixth hour Honors English class flies their handcrafted kites on the football field. This novel, written by Khaled Hosseini, was popular among many of the students.

2. The Fairfield Community High School varsity scholastic team captured first place in the IHSA Regional tournament on Monday night. FCHS went 3 and 0 en route to the crown. Fairfield now improves to 31 and 13 on the year and advances to the IHSA Sectional.

3. Coach Kirkpatrick's Girl's PE class will participate in the American Heart Association's "Jump Rope for Heart" program on March 30, 2010. In 2006, 41.4% of Wayne County deaths were related to heart disease or stroke.

4. FCHS' first awarding of the "Students of the Month" title has been given to Anthony Vaughn and Amy Scarborough. They have been declared students of the month for February 2010. As receipients, a short biographical profile will appear in an upcoming issue of Fairfield's Wayne County Press, as well as on the FCHS website.

  Guidance Posts Updated Scholarship List

  The FCHS Guidance Department recently published an updated list of scholarships that are available to students. These scholarships include local opportunities, as well as national scholarships. Some of the newly added scholarships are the B. Earl Puckett Scholarship, the Nichols Memorial Grant, and the University of Illinois Psi Upsilon Scholarship.

  Future Business Leaders of America Observing "National FBLA Week"

  The Fairfield FBLA Chapter is observing National FBLA week during the week of March 1st-5th, 2010. Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda is a nonprofit education association funded by membership dues, conference fees, corporate contributions, and grants.
