The JV Baseball game today(Mon.) is cancelled.  There will be practice in the gym after school.

 

Attention cheerleaders:  If you ordered pictures, they are ready to pick up at Witter Studio.

 

FCCLA members: are to meet Wednesday, immediately after school, in Room 208.  This is the final date to turn in permission slips, and final plans for the field trip will be made.

 

Attention seniors:  There is a signup sheet in the office for anyone interested in decorating for prom.

Also, don’t forget to bring your senior trip permission slip and deposit to Ms. Tucker or Miss Austin by tomorrow(Tues.).  The deadline for the senior trip cannot be extended past tomorrow..

 

Students who have already paid for their yearbooks should check the list in the display case by the main office to be sure their name will be spelled correctly on the cover of their yearbook.

 

COLLEGE INFORMATION – SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS

Guidance has received applications for the Walter R. and Marie Foley Davis Memorial Scholarship.  Students must have a GPA of at least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, have financial need, be of good moral character, and be accepted to a college or university in the state of Illinois for the next school year.  Interested students should see Guidance for an application.  These must be completed and returned to Peoples National Bank Trust Department on or before June 15.

 

Guidance has received the application for the B. Earl Puckett Scholarship.  The scholarship is for $3,000 per year for four years.  Applicants must be a graduating senior, have a minimum of 19 on the ACT, maintained a 3.0 or better GPA, and rank in the upper 25% of his or her class.  See guidance for an application, the deadline to apply is Thursday, April 17, 2008.

 

Guidance has received the application for the Wayne County Corn Growers Scholarship.  The student must be going into some phase of agriculture or if their family has a current membership in the Illinois Corn Growers Association, they can be pursuing any area of study.  The application should be filled out and include an essay on “The Impact of Current Corn Prices on My Future”.  Applications are due by April 18th.  See Guidance for an application.

 

Thanks to all the students who participated in the Red Cross Blood Drive last Thursday.  Twenty-two good pints of blood were donated with 7 deferrals.  Six were first-time donors!  Thanks for giving the gift of life!!

 

Game-a-Palooza is over!!  And it was a huge success!!  Jeff Vaughan captured both the singles ping-pong and badminton tournaments.  Miss Z and Jordan Cessna won the bags tourney.  Lucas Reever won the untimate challenge.  “Hot Dog JB” won the air band contest with their performance of the Bohemian Rhapsody.  Members were Jordan Brown, Danny Montiel, Xylinn Warren, and Lindsay Downs.  Bryan Quach was the DJ for the evening, and a special performance by Lucas Reever, Brandon Lee, and James Harrison ended a fun night.  The Spanish Club donated the food for the evening and there was plenty of it!  Delicious!  And the Student Council would like to thank all students who helped make Game-a-Palooza a huge success!  One thousand nine hundred dollars($1900) will be donated to the Coleman family from the proceeds of the night!  That includes a $700 donation from the FCHS Freshman Class, and the $250 Spanish Club food donation.  You are all to be congratulated for again showing you care!
