FCCLA will meet Wednesday, March 5, at 3:00 in Room 208.

 

Attention all Math Club Members:  There will be a field trip to the University of Illinois Engineering Open House this Friday, March 7.  The bus will leave the school at 8:00 A.M.  We will be visiting the engineering campus viewing demonstrations in the different areas of engineering.  The bus will leave the campus at 2:30 p.m. and should return to Fairfield by 4:30 p.m.  Students should bring money for lunch, snacks, or souvenirs.  This is a great opportunity for students to visit a nationally top-five ranked engineering school, to visit an outstanding Illinois state university, and to take a look at the possibilities that engineering has to offer.  We must have 20 students signed up in order to take a bus.  Sign up in Room 102(Mrs. Monge’s room) by Wednesday, if you plan to attend.

 

Been practicing your drawing skills?  Been working on your poetry?  Do you have some amazing pictures sitting in your room?  If so, the art contest will soon be underway.  Entries will be accepted in the library from March 3-April 4.  The categories are:  sketches, painting, color drawings, landscape photography, life photography, calligraphy, and poetry.  The first place winner in each category will receive a $10 Wal-Mart gift card.  So enter some items and see what happens . . . . .

 

Attention girls and boys basketball players, wrestlers, and cheerleaders:  The winter sports awards program will be held tonight(Mon.) at 7:00 P.M.  Athletes should attend to get their awards.  Dress appropriately!

 

Attention FCHS students, teachers, staff:  Do you have a talent you would like to share? 

Do you sing, dance, or play an instrument?  Are you an orator, magician, actor, or have another special talent?  Here is your chance to use it . . . and for a good cause!!  The 2008 After-Prom Talent Contest will be held Friday, March 14, in the east gym.  Great prizes will awarded - First Place $350 and Second Place $150 – with winners to be selected by audience vote.  There is a

five minute performance limit, and the deadline to enter is Monday, March 10.  Entry forms are available in the office.  If you are not a performer, you are still invited to come and join the fun. Admission is only $3.00, and the money goes to support After Prom.

 

 Students interested in taking the ACT on Saturday, April 12, are reminded that Friday(Mar. 7) is the last day for regular registration.  Students are encouraged to register online.  However, registration packets are available in the guidance office.

 

Guidance has received the Hutchison Foundation Scholarship applications.  Students must be a senior in high school, have a minimum of 2.5 GPA, have a minimum of 18 on the ACT, be involved in school and community activities, demonstrate a financial need, and must pursue a degree at an accredited university, college or community college.  The deadline to apply is April 3, 2008.  See Guidance for an application.

 

Guidance has received applications for the A. Orlen Brach Scholarship.  This is open to students who are not completing a degree program in a four-year college or university.  The school shall be within the State of Illinois and within a 100 mile radius of Fairfield.  Financial assistance must be needed.  See Guidance for an application.  The deadline to apply is March 28, 2008, before 3:00 P.M.

 

Guidance has received the tuition waiver applications for Lincoln Trail College.  For full consideration, all materials concerning this waiver must be returned to LTC today, March 3, 2008.  Go to the guidance office for an application.

 

Applications for the Wayne County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship and the Wayne County Farm Bureau Youth Leader Scholarship may be picked up in the guidance office.  These scholarships will be awarded to high school or college students who reside in Wayne County, and who plan to major in a full-time “Ag-related” field of study for the fall 2008 semester.  The deadline to apply is March 31, 2008.

 

Reminder to sophomores:  The sophomore fundraiser items will be in Wednesday!!  You need to pick them up after school Wednesday in the gym lobby.  You will need to deliver the items as soon as possible or have a cooler or freezer ready.  If you bring a cooler for your frozen items, you can put it in Room 213(Mrs. Simmers’ room).  If any products are defrosted, destroyed or not responsibly delivered YOU will be responsible to pay back the customer.  This will not fall on the sophomore class funds.  It is your job to see that your customers get their orders.  If you ride the bus, make arrangements to be picked up on Wednesday!!  If someone other than you is picking up your order, please write a note giving them permission to do so.
